Alpine GTA 1985 - 1991

The Alpine GTA embodies French sporting heritage since its launch in 1985, a compact coupe born from Renault Sport's desire to offer a dynamic alternative to established European sports cars. The first true sports car signed Alpine after the celebrated A110, the Alpine GTA model marked the 1980s and 1990s with its light approach, progressive turbo engine and sharp handling, before evolving into ever more refined and powerful generations. The Alpine GTA story spans three decades, with an initial launch in 1985 followed by a second generation in 1990 (GTA V6), then a renaissance in 2013 with the modern A110, the new interpretation of this Alpine sports philosophy. Through these Alpine GTA generations, the market positioning has been asserted: an accessible, light and agile sports car, natural rival to Porsche 944 at the time, then positioned today against Lotus Emira or Jaguar F-Type coupe. The Alpine GTA model managed to retain its original vocation: to offer progressive, authentic and uncompromised driving, with a responsive chassis and controlled weight, far from excessive electronic overloads. Remarkable stylistic evolutions accompanied each era, from the refined design of the 1980s to the more angular forms of the 1990s, up to the modern and retro-futuristic aesthetic of the new generation. Today, the specification sheet of the Alpine GTA model reflects measured power choices and assumed lightness, remaining faithful to the founding DNA of the French brand, symbol of thoughtful and engaging sportiness.
