Cadillac ELR 2013 - 2016
The Cadillac ELR is a prestige electric coupe launched in 2013, embodying the American brand's ambition to offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional luxury sedans. A unique blend of sportiness and electric mobility, this Cadillac ELR model is based on the General Motors group's Voltec platform, equipped with a lithium-ion battery combined with a backup petrol engine ensuring extended highway range. Presented as the stylized rival to the Tesla Model S and BMW i8, the Cadillac ELR story is part of an energy transition approach while preserving the brand's luxurious and technologically advanced character. The coupe's futuristic design, with its suicide doors and aerodynamic profile, marked the beginning of a new era at Cadillac, although production in North America ended in 2016 after a single commercial generation. The Cadillac ELR specifications displayed 207 horsepower and remarkably reduced consumption thanks to its plug-in hybrid system, allowing up to 65 km of all-electric range before the thermal engine's intervention. Though limited in commercial lifespan, this ambitious futuristic coupe laid the foundations for Cadillac's hybrid expertise, paving the way for future Cadillac ELR generations and the manufacturer's upcoming electric models.
