Chrysler, founded in 1925 by Walter P. Chrysler in the United States, established itself as a major manufacturer in the North American automotive industry for nearly a century. Chrysler's history is marked by major technological innovations, notably the introduction of hydraulic transmission in 1939 and power steering systems in the 1950s, positioning the brand against competitors like Ford and General Motors. The Chrysler range covered numerous segments, from family sedans to sports coupes including revolutionary minivans like the Chrysler Voyager launched in 1984, which dominated the North American multi-purpose vehicle market for over two decades.
