Hyundai Genesis coupe BK Phase 2 2012 - 2013
The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a two-door sports coupe that marked Hyundai history by embodying the South Korean brand's ambition in the premium and performance segment since its launch in 2009. Born during a full strategic transformation of the manufacturer, this lineage experienced two distinct generations, from 2009 to 2016 for the first and from 2016 to 2020 for the second, each refining the positioning of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe model as a direct competitor to affordable sports coupes from established brands such as the Hyundai Tiburon itself or the Toyota 86. The evolving design of the Genesis Coupe gradually adopted a more race-oriented and assertive styling language, shifting from an elegant silhouette to a resolutely aggressive presentation, while the Hyundai Genesis Coupe generations benefited from continuous improvements in terms of turbo engines, handling and technological equipment. Driven by turbocharged four-cylinder engines offering increasing power output and manual or automatic transmission, this compact coupe succeeded in seducing a clientele seeking sports authenticity without the prohibitive prices of large established German or Japanese brands. Although production ceased in 2020, the technical specifications and legacy of the Genesis Coupe remain a reference in the category of affordable compact coupes, while Hyundai reoriented its luxury strategy around the Genesis sedan, making room for electric models and crossovers in the current lineup.
