International

International Harvester, founded in 1902 in the United States through the merger of four agricultural machinery manufacturers, gradually established itself as a major automaker, particularly in the utility vehicle and truck segment. The history of International is closely tied to the development of the American automotive industry in the 20th century, with factories located in Fort Wayne (Indiana), Springfield (Ohio), and several international sites in Europe and Asia. The International lineup spans from the mid-20th century to the 1980s, covering the Scout light trucks (launched in 1961), the Traveltall pickups, commercial vehicles such as the S-Series, as well as medium and heavy-duty trucks designed for professionals, positioning the brand as a direct competitor to Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge in the North American and European markets. The most iconic International models include the Scout 800, produced from 1966 to 1980 with over 1.2 million units sold, and the Loadstar trucks from 1957 to 1969, renowned for their reliability and load capacity. After being acquired by Navistar International in 1986, the brand gradually phased out its automotive operations to focus on heavy trucks and specialized vehicles, while International spec sheets remain benchmark references for collectors and enthusiasts of American classic vehicles.
