Jensen

Jensen is a British car manufacturer founded in 1934 by the Jensen brothers, which strengthened its presence in the high-end sports car and grand tourer segment during the 1972-1975 period. Jensen's history is characterized by limited, hand-built production, with a specialization in vehicles powered by potent V8 engines aimed at an exclusive clientele, positioning the brand as a direct competitor to Lotus, Reliant, and TVR in the British sports car market. During the seventies, the Jensen lineup revolved around two flagship models: the Interceptor, launched in 1966 and produced until 1976, fitted with a Chrysler V8 engine of 440 or 383 cubic inches, and the Healey GT, a sporty coupe inspired by the legendary Austin-Healey 3000. The West Bromwich factory in England remained the operational heart of the Jensen manufacturer, where each car was assembled to customer specifications, ensuring an annual production limited to a few hundred units. On the technical side, Jensen models from this era offered two-seat or four-seat configurations, with top-tier performance exceeding 200 km/h, four-wheel independent suspension, and a luxurious interior finish in leather and polished wood, reflecting the manufacturer's upmarket orientation. The Jensen technical spec sheet also reveals the integration of Girling braking systems and power steering, innovations well received by North American customers, a strategic market despite a modest commercial presence compared to giants like Jaguar or Aston Martin.
