MG ZT Phase 2 2004 - 2005

The MG ZT is a compact British sedan launched in 2001 that marked the MG brand's revival in the sports and elegant touring vehicle segment. Heir to the tradition of character-driven sedans, the MG ZT story fits into a pivotal period where the manufacturer sought to modernize its offering while preserving its sporting DNA, proposing a dynamic alternative to the BMW Series 3 and Audi A4 of the time. The MG ZT model experienced two main generations, the first (2001-2007) embodying renewal with its assertive design signed by Peter Stevens and mechanics borrowed from Rover, while the second generation, marketed under the name MG6 from 2010 onwards, marked significant aesthetic and technical evolution by adopting a more modern platform. The MG ZT generations distinguished themselves through their accessible luxury proposition, combining refined interior, honed handling and four-cylinder or V6 engines offering a good compromise between performance and fuel consumption. Since its launch, the model found its followers among lovers of authentic British sedans, notably in the used market where well-maintained examples retain fine appreciation among collectors and purists. Today, the MG ZT represents a key chapter in MG's evolution, testifying to the manufacturer's desire to compete in the premium segment while asserting a distinctive visual and mechanical identity, before its subsequent transformation into SUVs and electric vehicles.
