Peugeot Ion

The Peugeot iON is the French manufacturer's compact electric vehicle, launched in 2010 as a pioneering response to sustainable urban mobility challenges. The result of a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi for the platform and powertrain, the history of the Peugeot iON begins with a first generation featuring refined and functional design, offering an autonomy of approximately 150 kilometers and positioning the model against competitors such as the Nissan Leaf. The Peugeot iON experienced a single commercial generation from 2010 to 2020, characterized by a compact five-door body measuring 3.75 meters in length, ideal for urban and suburban journeys, with efficient air conditioning and progressively enriched equipment across model years. The Peugeot iON generations benefited from constant improvements in battery autonomy, ranging from 160 to 250 kilometers depending on variants, and better integration of connectivity and active safety technologies. Distinct from its larger electric counterparts in the C segment, the Peugeot iON model established itself as a credible alternative for customers seeking simplicity of use and reliability in electric vehicles, before Peugeot redirected its strategy with the launch of the e-208 from 2019 onwards. Today available on the used car market, the Peugeot iON remains a reference for the first generation of French electric vehicles, appreciated for its reduced maintenance costs and controlled environmental footprint.
