Polestar
Polestar is an electric and electrified vehicle brand founded in 2017 in Sweden by Volvo Cars, resulting from the transformation of its historic tuning division created in 1996, which marked Polestar's history as an entity dedicated to automotive performance. Since its official launch as an independent manufacturer, Polestar has developed an ambitious Polestar range including the Polestar 1, a plug-in hybrid grand tourer coupe launched in 2019, and the Polestar 2, a compact electric sedan arriving in 2020, followed by the Polestar 3 in 2023, an electric SUV positioning the brand against competitors such as Tesla Model Y and BMW iX. Production takes place in Sweden, China, and since 2022 in South Carolina in the United States, allowing Polestar to serve global markets with growing capacity. Polestar models are distinguished by their refined Scandinavian design, advanced autonomous driving technologies, and commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030, reflecting Volvo Cars' vision of which Polestar remains a majority-controlled subsidiary. Polestar technical specifications reveal impressive performance: the Polestar 2 offers up to 476 horsepower and a range of 430 kilometers, while the Polestar 3 develops 489 horsepower with a 111 kWh battery, targeting rapid growth on the premium electrified segment between 2020 and 2023.
