Rosengart is a French automobile manufacturer founded in 1919 by Lucien Rosengart, which marked the history of affordable automobiles in France before its decline at the end of the 1950s. Specializing in small affordable cars, the brand was able to build customer loyalty to compact models and reasonable prices, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Citroën and Peugeot in the entry-level segment. Rosengart's history during the period 1947 to 1953 reflects the efforts of reconstruction and modernization of the French automobile sector after the war, with a Rosengart range dominated by small-displacement utility and family vehicles, including the famous Rosengart Supertraction and the Novamatic model. Rosengart models benefited from a reputation for reliability and practicality, attracting French middle-income households and small entrepreneurs seeking affordable mobility, with engines generally under 1,000 cc and reduced fuel consumption. The Rosengart manufacturer operated production facilities in Neuilly-Plaisance, in the close suburbs of Paris, and maintained a solid commercial network in mainland France, although facing increasing competition and structural financial difficulties during this crucial decade.
