Saturn Sky
The Saturn Sky is a compact two-seat roadster launched in 2006 by the American brand Saturn, a General Motors subsidiary, which marked a turning point in the Saturn Sky's history by offering an accessible alternative in the convertible sports car segment. Built on the Kappa platform shared with the Opel GT, this two-seat convertible had a single generation, sold until 2009, during which it stood out for its retro-futuristic design by Bryan Nesbitt and its aggressive pricing against rivals like the Mazda MX-5 and the Pontiac Solstice (with which it shared many components). The Saturn Sky generations are therefore limited to this single iteration, powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 173 hp, paired with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, giving it moderate but sufficient performance for road use. The Saturn Sky model won over open-top driving enthusiasts without breaking the bank, focusing on driving enjoyment, light weight (900 kg), and the pleasure of open-air motoring rather than raw power. Although production ceased more than a decade ago following Saturn's 2009 bankruptcy, the Saturn Sky's specification sheet retains a fine reputation among collectors of affordable sports cars, with examples regularly appearing on the used car market, offering excellent value for those seeking an authentic and endearing convertible experience.
