Leapmotor B10: the compact electric SUV that plays in the big leagues

From Hangzhou to Europe: the Leapmotor saga
Ten years ago, nobody would have bet a yuan on Leapmotor. Just another startup in the vast ecosystem of Chinese electric vehicles, with no international reputation, no global network, and lacking the pedigree of historic giants. Yet, in 2025, the B10 has slipped into European dealerships with a powerful argument: premium equipment quality at a price that makes families think twice — and competitors sweat. An overview of a model that's ready to convince.
Founded in 2015 in Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province, Leapmotor is the brainchild of Zhu Jiangming, an electrical engineer with over thirty years of technical experience. From the outset, the brand bet on vertical integration: it develops and manufactures its own main components, from powertrains to onboard intelligent systems, representing approximately 70% of the vehicle's total cost. A philosophy as much of a "tech company" as it is an automaker, which allows it to compress costs without sacrificing innovation.
The real turning point arrived in October 2023. Stellantis invested nearly 1.5 billion euros to acquire approximately 21% of Leapmotor's capital, then ranked in the top 3 Chinese electric startups. The two partners founded the joint venture Leapmotor International B.V. in May 2024, managed by Stellantis at 51/49 and based in Amsterdam, tasked with bringing the brand's models to the four corners of the world outside China. The first European deliveries began in September 2024 with the T03 city car and the large C10 SUV.
The B10, the centerpiece of the B range
A size designed for European families
It was at the Paris Motor Show in October 2024 that the B10 was first presented, before being revealed in detail at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025. The SUV measures 4.52 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.66 meters tall, with a wheelbase of 2.74 meters. Dimensions close to the Peugeot e-3008, giving it a trunk of 430 liters, expandable to 1,700 liters with the rear seats folded down. Inside, a central touchscreen console of 14.6 inches in 2.5K definition controls the majority of onboard functions, assisted by an 8.8-inch digital dashboard.
On the safety side, the B10 features 17 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), serious equipment for a vehicle in this price segment. Over-the-air updates (OTA) allow features to be enriched over time, with CarPlay and Android Auto available via update.
Two batteries, one ambition
The B10 is based on rear-wheel drive powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor developing 160 kW — or 218 horsepower — for a torque of 240 Nm. It comes in two versions: a 56.2 kWh battery offering 361 kilometers of range in mixed WLTP cycle, and a 67.1 kWh battery extending the range to 434 kilometers.
Charging takes place on alternating current up to 11 kW, allowing you to go from 30 to 80% in approximately 2h30, or on direct current up to 168 kW depending on battery version, reducing charging to just 20 minutes. McPherson suspensions at the front and multi-link at the rear complete a chassis oriented toward daily comfort, consistent with the model's family vocation.
Figures that speak and anecdotes that intrigue
In 2019, Leapmotor had sold only 1,037 vehicles in total. The curve since then has been dizzying: the brand posted a net profit in the first half of 2025 and is targeting 500,000 units delivered over the entire year. In France, the B10 is marketed starting from 29,900 euros for the entry-level version — a price below many of its direct European rivals, led by the Renault Scénic E-Tech and Peugeot e-3008.
The other piece of news making headlines: now distributed through the Stellantis network, the B10 benefits from chassis tuning and specific setup performed on the Balocco track in Italy, owned by the group. The Chinese SUV has therefore passed its European-style exams before joining showrooms.
Manufactured in Europe from 2026
The industrial chapter is equally exciting. Antonio Filosa, Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis, confirmed that the next electric models from Leapmotor will be produced at the Figueruelas plant in Zaragoza, Spain. The B10 will be the first of four models produced in Zaragoza from August 2026, in a plant also chosen to host an LFP battery gigafactory in partnership with CATL, for an amount of 4.1 billion euros.
Stellantis plans to invest nearly 200 million euros for annual production of 208,000 Leapmotor electric cars in Zaragoza. This European production will have a concrete impact for French buyers: the "made in Spain" B10 should eventually be eligible for purchase incentives, a powerful argument still lacking in the model imported from China.
And that's not all: in spring 2026, a REEV version (with thermal range extender) of the B10 is expected, before the arrival of the B05 compact unveiled at the Munich Motor Show 2025, and two additional B-segment models by the end of 2026.
